just a little

by Charlie Morgan

a moon's sliver cuts the night
to 'one size fits all' as my
headlights burn a hole in fog.

youngsters still sleeping; later,
one will break another's heart.
while now we battle bad guys.

decision's, decisions, decisions!
come with the morning like dew.
an absent daddy brings a sad glory;

as i raise America's new generation,
i burn fields of scorched grasses;
new ones will grow over soft ground.

every kid needs a daddy; no kid
needs a bad daddy.
or mommy.

so many daddyless kids is the new Prada;
as innocent eyes yet to meet real gloom,
color inside the lines, walk don't run.

and not everyone is listening.

This and all your work that I have reed, especially these last few poems posted are excellent. This is one of my favorites,despite the sad message, it is superbly written for emotional impact and that it did.I see the daddyless kids everyday and I give them all my love that is left in me.
