the mariner by Jared Fladelandthe sailboat races into the great wave
(like a beast that cannot tell the
difference between its supper and the
edge of a cliff),
and that is just
the way he came to be
the only cloud in the sky
(covers the entire horizon, no matter
which direction he turns).
and that gentle mist
pouring down
is all he has left to
give the girl on the ocean front
(who is looking out into
that great green abyss
[a floor that moves like a fun house
carnival]),
because out there is his love
waiting to kiss her lips. 09/13/2010 Posted on 09/13/2010 Copyright © 2026 Jared Fladeland
