arriving. the grass so green;
as was behind his ears too, but?

he's so busy being busy, the life
he's looking for saunters by,
glancing it's way; his head
turned another way.

he spits Shakespeare as if it's
a bite of holy mudpies.
he'll show them in Engl. 1301.
his speciality: Drama & Poetry.

sitting attentively in a feigned
not-college-material posture;
his gown of cool-kid slowly slipping.
as doubt poured from his smug glower.

waiting for the prompt, the one that
was sure to come, old Hickory Doc had
always started is Lines class with
the ever-present prompt. he wandered in.

gently laying his arm-load of books
on his desk he said "Ladies and Gentlemen,
your prompt, for which you're avariciously
awaiting is: Write. See you at semester's end.

Then, we can try our hand at poetry.
