i wish

by Charlie Morgan

waking to moonless night, stars alone;
i made coo-coo noises at each one.

i usually sigh at the buttermilk bowl
foisted upon us for night's viewing.

i'll have to start the day of dreams
without a kiss from the moon.

its silky drapes covering all;
as farm house windows are tiny moons.

like the 5yr. old i am, i wish.
yet, wishes change over time.

this time i wish that i wouldn't
have them all come true. just some.
