Dancing with my nude silhouette

by Jo Halliday

The water runs out, I run
as the clockwork shadows walk with me,
a grand expanse and a breeze that tastes like honey,
and like the spool where they spin kite threads
the glass that cuts my lips, a soft kiss that breaks the dawn.
I unfurl stars, disperse the dust, as the net spreads wider..
The song comes from the skies, the song beats in my heart
the bait whom the hunted know, I will remain
and wait for the rains that breach the peninsula, the way to sea.
Listen to me, my colors shall spill the oceans
a heartbeat that slips and goes; and a laugh that walks in sun, in shadows.
