As Is

by Susan Q Tomas

I accept you just as you accept me - as is.
We live 2,100 miles apart, but are still in love - as is.
I miss hanging out with you doing nothing.
“Sit down baby, relax. Everything will be OK” you say.
I miss dancing and watching movies with you.
“Screw your downstairs neighbor, this is fun” you say.
I miss your arms and your lips.
“I miss kissing you and watching you sleep.” you say.
I think we are in love.

Author's Note: It is difficult to navigate being single again. As you will see in my next post. This is for someone I left behind when I moved to Colorado.

I like the thought of this poem but it maybe could be expanded a bit. Also "are" is used twice in the second line so the meaning is not completely captured. And I enjoy the change from "are in love" to "think" in the last line, like you are starting to realize the truth perhaps...~JPP
