future?

by Charlie Morgan

when it will end is time; futuristic,
since it is not now, nor yesterday.

could be a wanted poster in the Post Office,
and hanging there front-face, profile
so all can see. WARNING: future's end.

unshaven, a scar over the right cheek;
mean scowl, forced grimace and frown.
lil' kids should not look straigt at it.

the future would scare all innocents;
babies and the frail cannot attend.
only the stalwart and fearless can go.

and once Life was a magazine, now it's
dead unborns, euthansia, Health Care,
Government Care but Government can't care.

so, my legacy is short, but long enough to me.
i'll help if i can, if i want to, if i make it.
but i'm a sprinter and the race is about run.

if i get to the future and it ain't nice,
i'll return and tell you, save you some time.
if it's nice, i'll lay out a picnic lunch.

to each their own : I had imagined the end of the future as a quiet man/woman, clean; semi-social but a little awkward.
