looking

by Charlie Morgan

shadows of the morning greet me;
i got sunshine yet to warm my skin,
so, i move slowly but undaunted.

as a man on death row, expectant
but not filled with humour, glee.
all the whys to questions i pose

still lie evenly spaced-out in my path.
satisfaction: a product guarantee,
nothing but crumpled paper. a stay.

looking for life to begin. i want
to love her face, her charm, her grin.
a welcome mat of fauna surrounds me.

lie back, count the stars with me;
find the lonely nebula, find me.
as today will rapidly segue into
all the tomorrow's that're borrowed.

We're all on death row, Charlie my friend. But there is, as you are so apt to say these days, so much more LIVING to do!!!!
