Idle Mind

by Jeffrey Parren

an idle mind
finds the simplicity
of its weaknesses
and the might
of its strengths

but the idle mind
at its weakest
finds all its own faults
and becomes lost
in the thoughts
of betterment
and grandeur
unattained.

the idle mind
at its strongest
finds things
to better itself
while not wasting
the free time it has
because greatness
takes time and persistence.

at this moment
I am weak
with my lackluster performance
dwindled to
missed opportunities
and an unshakable sorrow.

Me too. Well done, and hopefully doing so is fighting the idle mind's worse side.
