The Garden's Bounty

by Alison McKenzie

It’s a moonless night,
The big dipper resting low on the horizon.
The crickets are singing
And my feet crunch the granola driveway
On my way back up to the house.

There is a sleepy repose swaying
In the cool relief of these migrant moments,
Sunless summer hours before another dawn.

I pause, silent in the breeze,
Feeling the wind’s melody
Soothe away the furrows
Of worried brow.

I am mindfully taking note
Of the lessons life is serving
On the platter of this now,
Allowing the aroma
To prepare me for the ingestion
Of all that will nourish me,
And all that will sustain.

Author's Note: I can't explain the peace of moving forward.

This sounds like a moment of great mindful awareness. Peace is a hard won thing. The choice to move forward harder still. Very much respect for both.

It seems sometimes a better place to be than where we are. Good write lady.
