The Dearest Things (tentative)

by Ryan Nardi

The dearest things
we bury and burn.
Treasure and pleasure
to ashes and worms.
Those whom we love
we lose in this way:
we burn them or box them
and hide them away.
By God's will or no
for He says naught to me...
We bury and burn
what we wish most would stay.

I like this and can (painfully) relate.
