redefine: two-edged sword. by Aaron Michaelthe earth is thirsty
crusted skin like Saharan sands
and lifeblood inking,
staining her story with throes
that may buck us off before
riding down the dreams.
there is so little between
earth and space
and so much forgotten
wanton dualities
like the water so necessary
carves canyons
and the blood so precious
kills millions
and the flock of sheep
left to guard the sleeping shepard
have fallen prey to each other.
all that is left staunching the world
are the blades we sank to claim our space. 08/03/2010 Posted on 08/04/2010 Copyright © 2024 Aaron Michael

Posted by George Hoerner on 08/04/10 at 01:49 PM We treat her poorly and are fortunate we haven't been "bucked off" yet. But a time will come! Good write. |
Posted by V. Blake on 08/04/10 at 05:26 PM Your misspelling of "shepherd" was far and away the worst thing about this poem. Excellent write, man. |
Posted by Elizabeth Jill on 08/06/10 at 10:56 PM Sometimes I think that people are cruel, people are blind, people are angry and ready to kill over misunderstandings or things/concepts they think they "own". Other times, I know it.
Write on, Aaron. Your redefining is filled with depth.
