to have what must be by Jared Fladelandif one's own body is just a shell,
a vessel really,
it can be said that while it carries
us through the oceans of life,
it is what inside the hulls of this ship
that matters.
It will not float though
if it is filled completely,
because then it will be a solid.
One must throw overboard the waste,
keep things clean,
constantly work towards only having
what must be
and discovering what is true and what is false.
As we live our lives, we accumulate more
and more things,
becoming heavier and heavier
until we sink ourselves into a six foot hole.
That is why, with a little proper maintenance,
we can sail this ocean forever
into the dusk of where the water
meets the edge of the world. 07/30/2010 Posted on 07/30/2010 Copyright © 2026 Jared Fladeland
