The Wiener Dog by Maude CurtisThe third of July my grandaughter came by,
with a little dog she had found.
short legs, long body and floppy ears.
We hated to take her to the pound.
We took her and scanned her for a chip
and tattoos of any kind.
The dog pound said "We are so full,
take her home with you, if you don't mind."
She was so scared of all the noise
and all the loud celebrating.
she hid underneath the bed all day,
whining, shivering and shaking.
It's been almost a month and no one has called
to claim this sweet little lady
and since she's taught the other dogs who's boss,
we're all a big happy family.
But she likes to sleep on the pillow at night
right between Freddie and I
I can't convince her that she's a dog
as much as I try.
When I turn over to snuggle
after the lights are out
I always end up kissing
a long red snout.
So if you've lost a red wiener dog
or can't take care of her anymore.
Just know she has a good home
and is really loved for sure. 07/28/2010
Author's Note: We can't believe someone is not devastated about losing this dog. She is such a sweetheart and has already wiggled her way into our hearts.

| Posted by George Hoerner on 07/28/10 at 08:39 PM Far too many can no longer take care of an animal. We have two of those little four legged people around also and they keep us on our toes. We are allowed to watch TV if we only if we put on the channel they choose. |
