bent memories by Charlie Morgani missed yesterday; didn't show-up.
i was on rewind the whole week-end.
retraced some old fishing jaunts;
an old lover's wet, sloppy-good kiss;
saw a drunk lawyer, or a lawyer, drunk;
frowns that were permanent markers
of the dad's success, none of theirs.
photos of kids; now either fat or dead.
black and white photos ruled the projected
images of a family's wreast of business.
hidden secrets in a 92 yr. old mind;
awash with age, wisdom and unfulfillment.
family business stolen by a an artful dodger;
a younger brother hid his guile and the pea.
people bring short memories, talk of long ago.

| Posted by Olivia Martin on 07/28/10 at 12:54 AM Charlie, I can't even begin to tell you how much I've missed your words. I've seemed to fall off the "pathetic" bandwagon, but your piece rekindled my connection to this place.
A wonderful sentiment, sad but true. Thank you for sharing. |
