how to Believe

by Charlie Morgan

looking twice at the clock, it stops.
the hands droop, sag to the number 6.

earlier, i had been warned; the pool sweep stopped.

i close my eyes, fearful. i thimble my way
thru Space Rangers, Transformers, find books.

a dinosaur is standing on top of Mother Goose,
squeezing all the Nursery Rhymes out of her.

first i pout, then i burst into a bawl.
wondering if this is the last batch
of kids growing up in a lazy-hazy world
of make-believe? wonderment? Reality?

Santa & the Easter Bunny are let in; Jesus
says, 'my Father's favor rests on them.
believe in them as children and you will
believe in Me as you grow-up and older.'

You are amazing. The imagery in this is perfect; "the hands droop, sag to the number 6"; "a dinosaur is standing on top of Mother Goose, squeezing all the Nursery Rhymes out of her". These are gems.

Nice write Charlie. I do believe in everyone and every thing, the good, the bad, the ugly, even those we throw away. Again nice write.

"a dinosaur is standing on top of Mother Goose, squeezing all the Nursery Rhymes out of her." Awesome. You're still writin' the hell out of these poem things, man.

To become like a child is a gift. The most precious gift we can be given. To look around at the mess we grown ups make believe is the important stuff and still find the faith to believe in the goodness of God... a precious gift. Like this poem with an ending, 'my Father's favor rests on them. believe in them as children and you will believe in Me as you grow-up and older.' It's true.

Vince already mentioned my favorite line, so I'll just go ahead and say I loved this thing.
