everything he owns is for sale

by Ava Blu

i know he writes sometimes with one hand
while the other is tugging his cock
he would stand with a noose around his neck
if he thought it would add to the creativity

and i know he probably believes nothing is ever better without a cigarette in one hand
and i know he thinks he should’ve been living in another time
but the strangers he writes about, the villains he becomes
wouldn’t survive a move

he’s thought about his friend’s 15 year old sister in the shower
enough times to know something’s probably wrong in his head
she’s got a body like a 12 year old boy but her face is simple
with small lips and hair not quite black

he’s drawn her while he sleeps
and he’s choked down images with reasons to kill off a part of his brain

i know he spends 3 hours working and 2 looking at porn
i know his heart is empty in the coffee cup beside him
and i know his words are drenched in cum

he stares out windows in the dark
and he waits for the sun to rise over a cloud of smoke

he’s got no skills other than writing
and he’s betting on being able to get at least one person off
on words alone
but nothing is ever quite that simple
nothing is ever a thought hanging on the edge of reason
waiting to be lost
waiting to be saved

he is angry all the time
he is a 12 o’clock curfew on a 3 am night
and my watch got broken a long time ago

and i don’t know who he’s going to jack-off to next.

This is the kind of portrait that almost makes me wish you had a short story to follow it. There's a remarkable talent for detail in this, for specifics that are generally best captured in the short story form. You don't even bother with that. You nail everything in these few lines that a short story would need pages upon pages to capture. Phenomenal.

Think about a line break after 'nothing' in the second stanza. :)

Nice character building... or nice perspective in writing... I like it... flows well... gets the juices going... giving you this uncomfortable feeling to deal with... Something your not quite sure what to do with... waiting... waiting... to be lost... to be saved? Awesome.
