sketch

by Eric Hinkle

petrified stone
softening my soul
endless eyeview
of canyons
red, white + green
dried river of stone
tree trunks,
sitting for centuries
skyscraper-high rock walls
like folds of red dinosaur leather
slippery pebbles + kangarats
canyons stretch to forever horizon
cloudy blue + dust maroon
like a petrified Sahara
and/or Mars
ever-present beating sun
drying dust + dusty throats
pueblo caves + petroglyphs
scaly desert footing
scary dessert forming

A nice descriptive write Eric. I'll be carrying a notebook with me on my trip out to Wyoming next month.
