Portals by Kelly JensenThe sorry stumble
Like the lipstick on your birchbark
Total grasp unyielding
Forty evenings in silence
Devoted to broken fans, steamy windows & hot breaks
Fumbling fingers, furiously uncurling
Hair
a tousled darkness
Pinning hopes on dwarfing midnights
masquerade piked earthward
engulfment, blind
honeysuckle pinpricks
unnerving
he ate sixteen sweet lullabies
& broken orange peels
careening
where an iris never lies

Posted by Shonda Chrissonberry on 07/06/10 at 02:35 AM The words made me read this very fast.....the flow...unnerving. I had to slow myself down the second time. To soak it all in. And unnerving became breathtaking. Thank you. |

Posted by Therese Elaine on 07/06/10 at 01:54 PM This piece does an interesting jump progression, weaving its way in and out of seemingly fragmented imagery but it is all connected quite skillfully...I am really impressed with how this flows so richly, not just as a whole piece, but each individual stanza...really lovely, Kelly! |
