Follow your heart until you change your mind and if fucks everything up. Misleading yourself while misleading others it's all a mislead these terms of the heart. Follow what you will but follow it through or you'll be confusing everyone especially yourself.

You asked about tattoos...one of the ones I plan on getting is this saying, "Duc, sequere, aut de via decede" -which translates to, "Lead, follow, or get out of the way."
