april 24 and 25 2010

by Morgan D Hafele

2 poems

memories roll like the tide
and mine always seem
to be out when i'm thinking
but you...
you always seem
to make your way to the surface

lips parted slightly.
you never
smiled. and i...
i never stopped
bleeding.
my stupid heart or
worthless arms.
things change
life goes on
and you are a
fading reflection
on a rippling surface

the
smoke
tumbles
up
into
the
sky
and
i
a
m
f
a
l
l
i
n
g.

where did you go?

somewhere
we got lost

and
i don't remember
your name...

Author's Note:

here's a couple more from the good ol' journal for sharing... they were written on the 25th and 26th of april, neither piece has a title. i wanted the poems to be in columns, but the coding to do that looked like too much of a pain in the butt, so here they are on top of each other.

As I sit here with coffee and a cigarette, I smile in remembrance of scrawled words on random pieces of paper, of waking daydreams and cafe-coloured introspection...thank you for that smile.

its so powerful to read handwriting. this makes me want to smoke and remember and be up all night

...i echo both folks...especially what Rowan said re: the handwriting...powerful. and the pathos in your words...well said. she needs no name to be lost as we many times are...good write.
