your choice

by Charlie Morgan

the cicada's calls went unnoticed,
save the slowly, slinking lizard;

becomes too much for the universe's
silence, noise shan't dare to invade,
a slick, slippery and, oh so, sticky
tongue is at first, there; then not.

pocketed, another sound is muffled.
another step is taken toward the sun
as all the leaves become blackened.
feathered silence slices the air;
the tree branch loses one lizard.

for so many, a day of life occurs.
blinks. gone. tomorrow is a repeat.
choose: be there with a grin; or not.

I choose the grin, darlin, especially in reference to S2, L4... I'm expecting another day full of grins, and a few will be just because you're in the world. You sure make me laugh, you naughty boy.

This piece put a smile on my somewhat morose face. I feel like you...another day, shot- my life seems to be a series of re-runs.
