Top of the List by Gabe ZamoraEyes that drive the sky wild
and a look that will cause commotion in every ocean
across the blue plain
clear up the rain with a smile,
visibility for over 50 miles
standing on the ground
but levitated in her presence
her essence is effervescent
careful with your descent
it's easy to fall for her.
As time stands still
with that quick chill
when she enters a room
her voice is my tomb
as my heart goes boom
and falls to the floor laying next to my jaw.
Feelings go numb
I can't feel my tongue
tingling in my toes
and of course she knows
that she breaks hearts with a glance
she's not in for romance
but I'm under her trance
I wish we could dance to the sound of my heart
as it skips the last part
of the track of love
and now I'm gasping for air,
am I alive?
I don't care,
she is the reason to live
and I'll give all that I give
so she can know my name
and it's a shame I don't have the balls to follow my feet.
So now I sit in defeat and listen
to the beat continue that one two three
the bell has been rung
and my heart has been sung to that final tune
and now I'm down for the count
I'll watch her walk away
as those hips sway in an alarming way
and then I'll ask myself,
who was the girl that stole my heart today? 06/19/2010

| Posted by Therese Elaine on 06/25/10 at 04:13 AM It's funny, I hear this in my head as a combination of Tom Waits and early Depeche Mode, a la Speak 'n' Spell...this trips off the tongue, delicately, cheekily and achingly -a bemused sort of bittersweet...quite lovely!! |
