as i read your heart

by Nichole Fuji

as I read your heart
word by word
line by line
my heart beats harder

and more pronounced
more defined

louder and louder
harder and harder

my heart beats of life's seismic shock surprise
sending electric sparks
and waves,
a delicate shiver down my spine
and alas- the finally of warm sparkling tears
streaming from my eyes

as I read your heart
as I read your heart
as I read your heart

i read mine.

...nichole, love it...putting it my world, twas j.d. salinger[catcher in the rye]. socrates--know thyself, thoreau, issa, buson, basho...italo calvino, anne dillard. and a gillion others...i see this, as my life in this poetic narration...my narrative this way of one[s] who made my heart lub-dub louder, heavier...but you woke it up...the BEIMNG ABLE TO BE STIRRED, heart beating louder and faster ...too cool, too cool.

I love the form and word play in those first two stanzas. Really nice opening.
