Some men take their blows
whether self-inflicted
or otherwise
in stride
while others kick and scream
scratching and throwing
their own cheap blows back.

These men
these liars and cheaters
are of no need to me.

These men
who do what they must
when it must be done.

This is the type of man
I hope I can one day become
as now
I am still kicking and screaming
only I do so on paper
while others do so
to other men
just trying to get by.
