i agree

by Charlie Morgan

i leaned over toward him; Issa told me,
"a bath when you're born; a bath when you die.
how stupid."

i fell into a slumber, to sleep on the idea.
waking, i grinned then my heart was heavy.
how wonderful.

and man claims the land, Ali's land of syllogisms.
Jeff's land of the world as it is, now; to him.
and Chris' land without her. George's gained knowledge

Paige's land of animalia; surround sound of flora.
her camera already at the ready, click. click.
captured for the life of images; Darwinianism.

all go back to Issa; aren't we all stupid.
we see the shooter, then we allege. go to court.
and a comma, misplaced allows all to be lost.

i scream, Issa, Issa. please come back to life.
make fun of us and our big brain disease;
pick-up Vonnegut on your way; your humor will
carry you both through the Universe together.

we'll stay, die...laugh when the child is born;
cry when a child dies. have none for ourselves.
a single tear washes the cold off the Universe.

i will cry no more forever. i am done. finito.

Issa would do well to listen. Long dead to this world he may be tuning in from another. "i will cry no more forever" -- whoa, Dude. Like Chief Joseph succumbing to the inevitable "I will fight no more forever". Stop resisting, bend with the wind, to go down is to go up - yet not all feeling is gone otherwise a single tear would not wash the cold off the universe. Not to deny the element of chaos or absurdity in life, ie, the universe. There is that. This is great stuff brother, but I doubt you really be done. finito.

Sounds like your universe is arguing with you, darlin. pssst... it won't win(k)! I'm missing my camera. Course I had no idea I'd be gone so long either... I relate to the tone of this one today. Finito. Like Joe David though, I too doubt you are really done. Me either. God will wink at us again... someday. Maybe tomorrow! Is that a symptom of big brain disease? to hope to hope again... Hugs!

the birth and death idea is prevalent in many places in this. with the first idea I thought of the movie Big Fish. a bath when born and in death. it's a compelling thought, whether literal or not. the poem begins and ends, as do all things, except Styrofoam perhaps. i think you have done a good job capturing us all in this. thank you chaz...i have grown to look for your poetry and for your words...I am proud to say that I have known you. ~JPP
