In the Country

by Joe Cramer

Give me a good old twanging country song,
with one as such, you can never go wrong.
Just don't leave me your bottle of beer
out on those proverbial train tracks, my dear.

(Or your mother-in-law,
all alone in your car.)

Some mispent youth, tears in your beer
is it this broken heart that you fear?
Give me a good old-timey country song
within these words I can belong.

Author's Note: ... when I get writer's block, I listen to old country music....
