And I hope

by Jared Fladeland

There's a girl with sparking brown eyes
whose smile rivals the glowing lines
of a morning sun peaking over mountain tops.

There's a secret inside of her,
like a beautiful, green hidden briar,
something I'm sure she's not even aware of.
But I've seen her grow this year
Past the points of many worries and fear
And I hope she never loses what she's gained.

And I hope she continues to step forward,
continues to strip away from what was boarded
up inside of her, because she's worth it.
Every second of every day, she is
beautiful, capable of a cosmic fizz
that could shake this earth to the core.

And I hope she continues to look,
can see what's been given and what was took,
and can stand up for the great life force.

And I hope she can empty herself of doubt
so she can feel what is the correct route;
not in her mind, but in her soul.

There's a girl with sparking brown eyes,
whose smile rivals the glowing lines
of a morning sun peaking over mountain tops.
