A pink Pez
lay on the ground
the 5 second rule could not save.

It laid there,
slightly perpendicular to the staircase
slightly parallel to the tiling
on the floor it lay.

This pink Pez
it had so much more to give
than the futility of being dropped
onto a dirty floor
cleaned once every two weeks
if lucky
which mom or dad surely
warned:
“Don't eat that!
It
hit
the
ground!”
