vague

by Matthew Sharp

if you knew but you dont and wont
its not worth explaining again
you obviously werent listening
the first thousand times
you sit in your box and stare out the window
bitching about how ugly the flowers are
as you judge the bee for appreciating them
grouchy and depressed becomes you
as the paradox of yin and yang destroys itself
in the hunger pains of procrastination on an empty vessel
a void so deep ive screamed enough waiting for echoes
lost patience in the sound of your silence

Wear a mask too long and it becomes your skin, not discernable from the self you intend, and a mask is just a thought endlessly repeated, and endlessly projected. I like this piece, and the title is itself revealing, as the 'vague' is almost worse than the vacuous.

As Rula said, role playing does become our skin and we do tend to forget that role playing isn't Being. The lies is what is transmitted and that's what one receives in response. But, when one refuses to continue to play the prescribed role, a stony silence is what is offered in response. The piece speaks so clear and loud.
