Home Again

by Jeffrey Parren

This place where I sleep
is not what I call home.

The only home
I remember vividly
now is home
to someone else
and his family.

Even after a while away
there was something
so familiar about it.

Even when I grew
and everything
became easier to reach
and felt smaller in general
it was still
home.

So now I reside
in an apartment
I rent.

Maybe that's the difference:
a home you buy
a place to just sleep
is what you rent.

I want a home again.

A very familiar perspective, beautifully worded.

...this is similar to what Billy Collins would write...something so simple and yet so elusive as that FEELING of home, a great write..."easier to reach" a line that snaps one back to tinyville, eh?
