Salty As Life by Jeffrey ParrenThey had soaked their skin
with sun
and the salty ocean
which cleared all blemishes.
All tragedies were washed away
or covered over
and all that remained
was purity.
Even infatuation was simpler
when the innocence was lucid
as were the feelings
untouched by
the evils of experience.
The beach called to them
as they did each other
so when they left
back to their own lives
to give it a go
it inevitably failed.
A vacation's romance
is better kept
at the beach. 06/01/2010 Posted on 06/01/2010 Copyright © 2025 Jeffrey Parren
