during the week
of double double doubles
it feels like groundhog day

hi
welcome
my name is Jeff
I'll be your blah blah blah

oh you are going to a show
that must be nice

it really is a test of will
waiting on people everyday
living the life you want to be living
going to the shows you want to see
doing the things you wish you were

seemingly having it
all
together

until that continuity is broken

the table that is breaking up
the table that is arguing
the table with a prostitute

the table that has been together
for 46 years celebrating
by not uttering a word to one another

the table that gets engaged
(you can almost taste the tension
as you hope she sees the ring
in the glass of champagne
before she drinks it and the ring)

I will keep pressing through
these groundhog days
with the little breaks in between
so that one day
I will no longer have to endure
these
groundhog days
