Campout at Mimi's

by Maude Curtis

Four little boys about ten years old
decided to camp out at Mimi's.
The tent was pitched, the fire built,
hot dogs, smores and goodies.

About the time the fire went out
and everyone was ready for sleep,
a screech came out of the woods nearby
and they all started to leap.

An owl flew high over the treetops,
not the banchee that they had imagined.
Four boys huddled on my living room floor.
Fearing soon they were going to be blungeoned.

It was the scary stories told by the fire
that had them shaking in their boots.
Thanks to Pooh who told them tales
to make them afraid of "whoots".

Author's Note: The campout was a big success, except for the camping out part.
