Dear Dad- 2010

by Joan Serratelli

I will light
the candle
later
at sunset
I will cry
I will say
the Kaddish
and I will
remember
all the things
you gave me

I'm better Dad
Thank G-d
I'm sorry
You did not live
to meet your
great grandchhildren
you have four

You have two
great granddaughters
and two
great grandsons

You would have
loved them
They would have
returned your
love

When they get older
I will tell them
about you and Ma
Every person
should know
where they
came from

Your grandchildren
will see pictures
and smile

They are your
legacy

You gave me so much
not a day
goes by
without thinking
about you and Ma

It's been eleven
years
eleven very hard
years

But I'm
still here
this is not easy
for me to write

The realization
that I am an orphan
is a bitter pill

I wiah you
were here
I feel so
alone
