One Answer to the Age-Old Question

by Linda Fuller

A poem is a boar with its snout
stuck tight in a brambly bush
or maybe a salesman of shoes
with his hand stuffed up high in a pump
and he’s pumping for all that he’s worth
till the water shoots out in a burst
and it’s quenching the thirst of the boar
with its snout in the brambly bush.
