if you had to pick a time
to listen to nothing
telling you something
tonight might be the night

watching water sliding over rocks
the way time slips through finger tips.

i can't promise you anything
because all i've got is right now
and i'm not good at figuring out how

i just want to go to a place like home
write a song, maybe scribble a poem
about the sky or how to fly.

with a bugs bunny cartoon stamp
just to make you laugh, to make you see what you have.
