The Sacred Garden

by Kristen Heyl

Dark, desolate skies
vulnerable to tremendous downpours of rain.
Massive gray stone walls
and paths overgrown with thorny weeds
discouraging any nosy onlookers.

Within these walls
is a stunning Chinese garden
with babbling brooks and
flowers that hold secrets to the passions within.

This sacred garden has been seen
only by those important to her
and never in its entirety.

The stone walls have started to crumble
and the sun is slowly making its way through the clouds
hoping to make a permanent appearance
to help this garden thrive.
The downpours have turned to drizzles
turning the ordinary flowers into
sparkling diamonds fit for a queen.

The rainbow has appeared
creating the opportunity for her
to entrust her heart now that
that the "pot of gold" has been found.
