a seed of happiness by Charlie Morgani'm slanting my body to type this;
trying to see how the others live.
it changes a lot as i view life's
perspective using your lens.
for instance, just this morning,
as i clipped through downtown;
winos were still asleep, businesses
yawning OPEN. dressed sleep-walkers
pass by going to their sky-offices.
foolish enough to get on elevators
marked for use; the ladder starts here.
and you rise to the ground floor.
one more flight of years: basement.
leave! now! throw-out the T.V.; fold
up the paper, call the dogs, get Mama.
many don't know, it is so simple:
a golden parachute of children grins
are placed in your step's way, a sign:
please step on me, my smile is contagious.
laugh until tonight; laugh all day tomorrow.

Posted by George Hoerner on 05/18/10 at 08:56 PM A good write again Charlie. It would be nice if this lasted into the teens and who am I to say it will not. I know it does, it's just hard to find unless you look at it from the point of view of the teens and for me that becomes more and more difficult every year. And that's too bad for me because I know they are right/correct. I was one once if I remember correctly, played ball, tennis, and chess and bridge. Then I realized there were attractive girls around and it was all over. Again good write.
Posted by Adam Dyson on 05/19/10 at 02:55 AM You paint a vivid picture with your words - "yawning OPEN" is beautiful.
Posted by Steven Kenworthy on 05/19/10 at 04:29 AM there's a lot of excellence here. the first two lines to me set an awesome flavor for the poem. a prelude to your bigger message. tons of great energy in this...bittersweet. great write...your poetry is always so poetic. kingpin
Posted by Joe David on 05/19/10 at 02:24 PM Hoo-Hoo, yes indeed. Another good one ChazMan. Love that dressed sleep-walkers line, I resemble that remark. See you are still "aware" of "seeing" through your mind's eye and what that actually "means". One more flight of years. No doubt. Still a bit confused about the last paragraph. Wish Garth was here to explain it to me. Of course, laughter is always (nearly always - there are inappropriate times I have discovered) preferable if possible. Otherwise, one makes do. Keep 'em coming. Love and peace to you - j
