A Touch

by Joe Cramer

A touch of the sun kissed your back
as the waves caresssed at your feet.
The surf pounded near, and so far and away
while we glimpsed starfish underneath.
You cared for me then, as you do now
taking my breath away with every pace.
I glimpsed your beautiful smile
there on the sand, such sweetness on your face.
You were with me, as you always are
holding firmly onto my hand.
We walked for miles, together as one
while waves crashed onto the sand.
I wished there was a way
that I could tell you,
instead, I'll have to pen a word
or perhaps even a line of poetry or two.
As the sun slowly rose, it kissed you,
I always long to hold you next to me.
You are always so enchanting, so wonderful
who has set my joyous heart so very free.

This is a very sweet ode, but the magic for me is in the first 4 lines, they truly are spun of gold...in my eyes, those 4 lines say through their imagery and craft what the rest of the poem echos thereafter...kudos Joe!! Ur a hopeless romantic, like me, and I love ya for it!! peace, jewels
