Finally

by Richard Vince

It is temptingly easy to be
Cynical, though I know there
Is no justification. She did not
Design her face; she did not plan
This gentle and occasional
Torture I suffer.

I miss being able to share in her
Esoteric yet simple joys and
Her abundant enthusiasm.

Those are qualities I seek in
Friends, but so are honesty
And tolerance. As it turns out,
There was no friend to lose.

An ending with teeth! Just when I thought you'd made it past them. Yet, to acknowledge it in the moment is, I feel, perfect. Poetry sometimes produces the illusion that feelings are forever. I recognize that they aren't. Word economy is something you often have a good handle on, and I always appreciate it!

WOW Richard, kudos, truly...what a piece, how it delves right in and gnaws at the marrow...such a mature approach to a bravely introspective piece...how it arcs in the mind! Peace n poems to u, jewels xoxox
