Eeyore Morning

by Maria Francesca

There are days
when the effort
of raising the edges
of my lips
into a smile
is so far beyond me
as to be pointless.

There are days
when the covers on my bed
weigh as much as a shoreline.

There are days
when I close the front door behind me
from the outside
and I swear
it sounds like the slamming
of a cell.

Days when I drift through the world
with no further thought
than to drift back home.

Days when I am merely
opaque.

Days when
I could walk across newly fallen snow
and leave no impression.

Today is the poster child
for days like that.

I love it lady. Very well written with some great lines. Sometimes I look back over too many years and ahead into nothing and I look forward to nothing.
