Staircase to Revelations: IV
by Danny WashingtonSeveral lifeless rooms, each holding stacks of boxes.
The faceless are on the floor again, but now
I can touch them, and am surprised to find they're warm.
Against all my conscious intentions, my body
Betrays me, and finds its way to the floor.
The comfort is overwhelming, a mothers embrace.
I cannot move outside of my own heartbeat.
I cannot think of a reason why I'd ever want to.
And then, the visions begin, and wash me away.
The have no real meaning, as far as I can see,
But there's something hopeful about them.
A common theme of journey or escape.
Once I sat on a train, leaving a big, ugly city.
Once I flew to the moon, and saw all of mankind's struggle.
Once I cried, because the music was so beautiful.
I have strayed from the path.
I must find the source of the music.
I'm sure, that is why I'm here.
