Staircase to Revelations: III
by Danny WashingtonAs I reached the top, and turned around
I saw it for the first time. I understood
And new this place for what it was.
I was backstage, at a theatre where
All of the lights had long since burnt out.
But the energy flows, of stories once told.
It was a darkness that formed
The foundations of light. And as weary
as I was, I got swept away by its power.
My feet no longer touched the ground.
I was carried through the building
by an angel or a luxury bed.
More colours emerged; purple and green,
orange and red. The music was stronger
than I'd dreamed it could be.
Without form, and void, I shifted my sights.
The house was now a cave,
And the darkness grew deeper.
