How Long?

by George Hoerner

the sun slides south

pulling summer with it

but remnants remain

providing hope to surviving

sun servants still savoring

those last rays raining

from the sky as the surf

still pounds the shore

with no hint that it measures

the reach of each wave

rolling up the beach and back

as seagulls stalk for food

while time ponders

how much longer

it must measure

the grains of existence

I agree. I love your word play. A very relaxing (yet deep) write- thank you.

soothing and profound,George, like rollers on a beach at morning. I truly liked this poem!
