he needed told

by Charlie Morgan

today my goal is to explain the area of time
between dusk and dark to Stevie Wonder.

to get warmed-up, i pitch like Nolan Ryan;
first long balls from left field, then,
close the gap by twenty yards each third throw.

all because of what i knew's coming up.
he had to be told, i had no choice.

while going to get a donut in the morning.
i had a visit with my 4 yr. old grandson;

we covered women, college, dreams;
i asked if he understood? he said,
"Papaw a firetruck!, a firetruck Papaw!"

i smiled a knowing smile. all was good.

He'll learn soon enough and hopefully not the hard way. Nice write Charlie. And the young really are like the blind with parents or Grand leading until they find their own path.
