I Remember

by Wendy Sparling

I remember
a sea of tears:
cascading facets
of blue mirrors,
slicing salt trailed lines
down my face.

I remember
your peaked smile,
etched with love,
as you take my hand
and breathe
good-bye.

Author's Note: My best friend, Donna Hannan, passed away 20 years ago. I wasn't going to post this old poem but my thoughts have been with her lately.
