02. vermont

by Jasmine Sword-Mann

i watched you undress
in pale light, shoulders bare
through hotel curtains

i wrote poetry on your back
sang into your hair as you slept
as you spoke cracked words

and in the mornings
you would take showers alone
my hands in your empty spot

vermont, you said
we were going to vermont
