Bay Ridge, Brooklyn by Ken HarnischI have dreamed of you
Whom I have never seen
And plot such ways
To see you
Accidentally
On purpose
Some starlit night
It would be in autumn
Where the breezes coming off
The Narrows are fresh and clean
And my intent would
Be couched in poetry
And my love would be
Caught in sighs
I have known you
Through your words
And you have known mine
At times and
Wondered
After the man
Behind the boy
I think you dream
I’d kiss you
If I saw you
Even the first time
It keeps you
Wondering
If your lips would
Be insulted
Or revered
Not wanting to know
The consequence if
The latter, we keep
Talking about talking
And dreaming about dreaming
While all the while, shying
From the possibilities
