she wanted cherry blossoms by Ava Blushe wanted to sit and watch the moss play tricks with their shadows
she wanted substance to remain whole
she wanted her words to not beat
she wanted a place to lay down
and she feels keeping one fingernail longer than the others isn't so insane
and she's getting dirty looks from the squirrels
and something is being forgotten, right now, when the wind takes a turn
she sat up too fast and almost dropped her glass
and it would have shattered her dream if it wasn't for the trees
she went to DC with a band-aid over her ashes
she went with a Red Sox shirt in her pocket
and DC did not open its arms lovingly
it spit in her eyes and it took away her peaceful smile
she went to photograph the world
she went to dry her wings
she has yet to begin to understand how to hold hands
without getting a blister
she wanted to follow him
and she wanted a text to replace the real thing
and she thought the pictures would be enough
and she thought he had careless eyes
and she rode the metro alone
alonealonealone
and nothing was ever the same again. 04/06/2010 Posted on 04/06/2010 Copyright © 2026 Ava Blu

| Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 04/06/10 at 09:09 PM The best thing about this is how it feels as though it was written very quickly and left entirely as it was first conceived. There's such a wonderful stream-of-consciousness energy to this whole thing, sad as it is. Even though it feels like a passing thought that was written very quickly it remains packed with soul and imagery that hits the reader from more angles than they previously thought possible. I love it. |
